Silhaya – Artwork Introduction

Silhaya, the creator of Eden Silicon Tree, is a mechanical being that connects nature and technology. She embodies the spirit of Gaia, bringing to life silicon-based creatures with both human and insect-like forms.

As both a creator and protector, Silhaya gives her offspring wisdom and order. But as they evolve, questions of fate, control, and freedom emerge. This piece explores the fine line between creation and consciousness, as well as the balance between technology and divinity.

The artwork features ancient Chinese taotie patterns, which symbolize power and the link between heaven and earth. Combined with cyberpunk aesthetics, they create a striking contrast between tradition and the future, mystery and technology, bridging Eastern and Western influences.

Silhaya is the start of a new world. Will her creations follow her design or carve their own path?

Techniques & Materials

A collaboration between W.A.Y Studio and illustrator JDONG!, this installation blends fine art printing with Upcycling, giving old technology a new form.

It is made from 20th-century electronic parts and acrylic from billboards, assembled with screws for support. The acrylic is laser-cut, while the electrical components are hand-soldered and set with UV curing. By combining traditional craftsmanship with modern materials, the piece merges technology and art into a single, evolving entity.
