Eden Silicon Tree – Artwork Introduction
Created by W.A.Y Studio, Eden Silicon Tree is an art installation that merges nature with technology. It explores the concept of silicon-based life and future ecosystems. Utilizing components from 20th-century electronic devices, everyday metal parts, vacuum tubes, RGB lighting, and acrylic lamps, the piece reconstructs a futuristic, lifelike tree.
This tree symbolizes humanity’s vision of transitioning from carbon-based to silicon-based life while also reflecting on the environmental cost of technological consumerism. It emphasizes the tension between progress and sustainability, serving as both a vision of the future and a mirror of the present.
Techniques & Materials
The installation is constructed using parts from old electronics, assembled with screws for stability. The acrylic sections are laser-cut, while the electrical components, including vacuum tubes and circuits, are hand-soldered and reinforced with UV curing. The combination of lenses and electronic elements gives the piece both a mechanical and organic feel, creating a balance between technology and nature.
