In ancient China, bronze, also known as "jin" or "jijin" (auspicious metal), symbolized celebration and was a marker of social status. The two pieces in this work depict a ‘gui’ and a ‘zun’, vessels used during the Shang and Zhou dynasties for holding food and wine, representing abundance and prosperity. The artwork absorbs and reconstructs the colors and textures of ancient bronzeware, creating a profound and dynamic visual experience. It breaks traditional viewing patterns, seeking artistic innovation and emotional resonance between resemblance and abstraction. The mottled and hazy technique enhances the brilliance and grandeur of the piece, making it shimmer with a majestic and vibrant presence.
